Laura K. Deskin attended the University Of San Francisco School Of Law, graduating cum laude in 2005, receiving a Dean's Scholarship Award, membership in the McAuliffe Honor Society, and CALI Awards in Legal Research and Writing, Legal Ethics, and Information Privacy Law. She also served as Managing Editor of the University of San Francisco Law Review. While attending law school she participated in the Keta Taylor Colby Death Penalty Project, working on habeas corpus petitions for the Capital Post-Conviction Project of Louisiana, and worked as a law clerk for the Alameda County Office of the Public Defender.
Ms. Deskin began her law career at the Alameda County Public Defender's Office, and worked with the First and Sixth District Appellate Programs. In 2007, she joined the law firm of Garrick Lew and Associates, where she worked on pretrial and trial preparation of white-collar fraud cases, criminal antitrust violations, and narcotics offenses, among others. In 2008, Laura Deskin joined the firm of Garcia, Schnayerson & Thompson as an associate attorney where she is involved in all aspects of ensuring successful outcomes in the firm's state and federal cases including handling courtroom appearances, pre-trial preparation and negotiations, discovery analysis, and researching, writing, and arguing motions for the firm.
